Recruiter Charged with Possessing Child Pornography – Colorado Springs Felony Defense Attorney

A Grand Junction area Marine recruiter has been charged with possesion of more than 200 files of child pornography. The Colorado Springs Gazette is reporting that Craig Walker surrendered to police on Monday on a warrant alleging exploitation of a child. An arrest affidavit says authorities tracking IP addresses of computers that were sharing child pornography files led them to Walker’s computer.

According to Safefamilies.org, as of 2003 there were 1.3 million pornographic websites on the internet. More than 200,000 images of child pornography are posted online every week with approximately 20 percent of all pornography viewed online being of the child exploitative nature. As of 2005, child pornography was a $3 billion annual industry with 100,000 websites offering illegal child pornography.

Man Arrested for Handgun Theft – Colorado Springs Criminal Defense Attorney

A man was arrested in colorado springs Monday night on suspicion of stealing a handgun. According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, Gary Palmer was arrested in connection with the incedent. Police say that after learning about the theft of the handgun, they contacted Palmer to inquire about the theft. Palmer later met with police where he turned in the handgun and was arrested.

According to the Colorado Department of Public Safety Office of Research and Statistics, there where 1,736 arrests in Colorado in 2007 for weapons related offenses.

Fatal Stabbing – Colorado Springs Felony Defense Attorney

The Denver Post reported this morning that a Colorado Springs man has been arrested in connection to a fatal stabbing. 32-year-old Jason Stroud is accused of stabbing to death his 59-year-old father Monday morning. Police allege that the Jason Stroud stabbed his father multiple times in the head and torso before fleeing the house on foot. Police arrested the suspect a short time later without further incident. Police did not discuss a motive for the incident.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, there were 135 murders in Colorado Springs between 2002 and 2008. This will be the seventh homicide this year in Colorado Springs.
