Jail Time Averted | Colorado Springs Criminal Defense Attorney

A man who had been charged in the death of his own friend will avoid jail time, according to the Gazette. The two men, who had been close friends and housemates, got into a fight and fell down some stairs. While few details of the incident are available, due in part to a court order sealing the arrest affidavit, one of the men died a few days later in the hospital as a result of injuries from the fall, and the other man was charged with the death. Interestingly, the mother of the victim opposed the criminal charges, saying that they were friends and it was an accident. Under a plea agreement, the man will avoid jail time, serving a suspended sentence and probation, as long as he stays out of further legal trouble.
