The Colorado Springs Gazette is reporting that a liquor store clerk was stabbed during an attempted robbery Tuesday night. The robbery attempt occurred at about 8:30 p.m. near Austin Bluffs Parkway and Academy Blvd, Colorado Springs police said. Several minutes later a drug store half a mile away was robbed, but police said it is not clear if the two robberies are related. So far no arrests have been made.
In related weapons violence news The Gazette reports that Colorado Springs police say the owner of a Colorado Springs tailor shop was shot to death on Monday. The victim has been identified as 56-year-old Yong Glenn. A customer found Glenn’s body in the store at about 1:20 p.m. on Monday with a head injury. An autopsy, performed on Tuesday, found that she had died from a gunshot wound to the head. Glenn’s death is the second homicide this year in Colorado Springs. According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, there were 28,925 total arrests in Colorado Springs with 4,232 being of a violent nature between 2002 and 2007. In 2008 there were 258 reported aggravated assaults with firearms and 337 cases reported using a knife.
